Stephanie Atlas, LICSW

Stephanie Atlas, LICSW, came to Hasbro Children's Hospital in 2004 after working with special needs children in the Boston area. She is a licensed clinical social worker in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island and has Master’s Degrees in both social work and special education. Her clinical specialties include adjustment to illness, chronic illness and communicating with schools. She also acts as a supervisor for social work interns.

As a member of the pediatric GI team, Atlas focuses on meeting patients and families during hospitalization. At that time, she is available to provide supportive therapy regarding adjustment to illness, diagnosis and hospitalization, as well as access to hospital and community-based resources. She is available to work with patients, families and siblings, and can provide advice for communicating with the patient’s teacher and/or school system.

Recognizing the importance of social interaction with peers, Stephanie co-leads the IBD Patient Support Group, which provides a safe environment for kids to explore their feelings around their diagnosis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
