Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing
Exclusive to Hasbro Children's Hospital is Rhode Island's only pediatric
intensive care unit.
Many of the pediatric intensive care nurses are critical care registered
nurses (CCRNs), a certification earned through the American Association
of Critical Care Nurses. Intensive care unit nurses treat children
of all ages, from newborns to 18 year-olds. A clinical nurse specialist
completes the ICU nursing team.
Pediatric Transport Service
Rhode Island's Pediatric Transport Service is an ICU-based team
which transports critically ill children from community hospitals
to Hasbro Children's Hospital to receive pediatric services.
HCH pediatric ICU nurses, in collaboration with a physician and
respiratory therapist, provide other hospitals with this unique
and beneficial service. Often, the transport nurse provides the
community hospital with feedback which ultimately proves to benefit
other children who come to that hospital.
