Partial Hospital Program
The Hasbro Children’s Partial Hospital program is the only day treatment
program in New England for children with medical and emotional issues.
It operates year-round and addresses the needs of 6- to 18-year-olds who struggle
emotionally with chronic conditions such as diabetes and recurrent
abdominal pain.
Often, the burden of illness makes it difficult for children to go to
school. The program creates a safe, nurturing environment that allows
children and families to participate in activities and therapy in a climate of
healing.
Our patients have access to the same range of services as patients
admitted to the Hasbro Children’s Hospital inpatient units, including consultation
from specialists and comprehensive diagnostic testing. Our staff
includes pediatricians, nurses, child psychiatrists, pediatric psychologists,
clinical social workers, nutritionists, teachers and milieu therapists.
Psychiatrists are available to help treat a range of clinical problems,
including non-adherence for chronic medical illnesses, eating disorders,
psychosomatic syndromes, medical abuse and refractory school avoidance with
somatic symptoms.
