The Transport Team

  • Transport Medical Director
Stephanie Sudikoff, MD, board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine, is the medical director of pediatric transport services. She supervises all medical and administrative aspects of the transport program and ensures that all members of the transport team are capable and prepared to provide quality care to a critically ill child during transport.

  • Clinical Manager
    Sherry Gagnon, CCRN
, is the team's clinical manager. She is responsible for all administrative, budgetary and personnel issues.

  • Physicians
The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) attending physician supervises every transport, and is available 24 hours a day for telephone consultation. The physician travelling with the team is a senior pediatrics or emergency medicine resident, who has completed a PICU rotation, transport team orientation seminar, and is Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.

  • Registered Nurses
The team currently has two dedicated transport nurses, Pam Frappier, RN, and Jodi Russell, RN. Both Pam and Jodi have several years experience as pediatric critical care nurses, and have also undergone additional specialty and airway management training for transport medicine. All nurses who work with the transport team must have at least 2 years experience in the pediatric intensive care unit, extensive training in pediatric transport, and must be certified in PALS.

  • Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner
    Nella Stoltz, PCCNP
, is the pediatric critical care nurse practitioner working with the transport team. Nella performs transports, assists with the education and training of the staff, and makes follow-up phone calls to referring physicians.

  • Respiratory Therapists
Pediatric respiratory therapists accompany the team when the patient's condition warrants. They all have experience in our PICU, additional training and experience in transport, and carry certifications in CPR and PALS.

  • Emergency Medical Technicians
Our primary ambulance company, New England Ambulance, provides us with two emergency medical technicians who are specially trained in driving the mobile intensive care units and are an integral part of the clinical team. At least one EMT on every transport carries a minimum of EMT-C or paramedic certification. The crew also participate in pediatric focused educational seminars in the PICU.
