Newport Hospital Pediatric Services
Parent Guide
Arriving at the Hospital
Some of our patients come to the hospital from:
- Their doctor's office
- The emergency department
- Scheduled surgery
If your child requires hospitalization you will be directed to
the registration area where a brief interview will be completed
to prepare your child for his or her admission.
An identification band will be placed on your child and
your family will be escorted to the pediatric unit. A staff nurse
will greet you and your child in your child's room.
Room assignment is determined by the medical needs, age
and sex of each patient. Color television and telephones are provided
free of charge for all pediatric patients.
If your child has been recently exposed to a contagious disease,
such as chicken pox, measles or mumps, it is important to let your
doctor and nurses know as soon as possible. It is important to protect
your child as well as the other children in the hospital from contagious
illnesses.
Remember, if you have any questions
concerning your child's hospitalization please feel free to ask
your pediatrician or one of the pediatric nurses. For more information
about pediatric services at Newport Hospital, please call 401-845-1710.
