Last year, the 28,000 people who came to Newport Hospital's emergency department found the doors open and the facility staffed-no matter when they arrived. Seven days a week, 24 hours a day, Newport Hospital's emergency department is open—just as people expect it to be.

Our emergency department is staffed by a minimum of three specially trained caregivers. One is an emergency physician; all of the department's seven physicians have extensive training and experience and are board certified in emergency medicine. The physician is supported by a physician assistant trained in emergency medicine, as well as specially trained nurses.

Newport Hospital's emergency medicine physicians have training in even the most severe injuries and some work regularly in the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital and in The Miriam Hospital's emergency department.
