The Newport Alliance works with hundreds of collection sites throughout the country. Many are occupational health or other practices that offer limited drug and alcohol compliance services to their clients. They simply do not have the time or resources to provide more.

If this describes your organization, the Alliance can help by giving you the opportunity to:

  • Continue offering federal and non-federal drug and alcohol testing as part of your occupational health product line.

  • Focus on the collection function for drug tests and the breathalyzer testing for alcohol—traditionally the best income versus time/expense element of any full-service program.

  • Free your physician and staff from the day-to-day medical review officer (MRO) responsibilities. The recent changes to 49 CFR Part 40, challenge MROs to remain current on Federal DOT updates and rule changes. The critical degree of responsibility faced by the MRO requires a substantial investment of time.

  • Eliminate the need for other medical and administrative staff to stay on top of the daily demands of managing a full-service testing program. Keeping current with Federal DOT rules and being responsive to your clients requires the same effort as that expended by the MRO. Rule changes now contained in 49 CFR Part 40 place more responsibility with service agents (collectors-third party administrators). This is reflected in the Public Interest Exclusion—a mechanism by which the DOT can publicly identify service agents that do not properly provide those services that Part 40 requires.

  • Have the flexibility of choosing the degree and extent to which your organization stays involved in the drug and alcohol programs offered to current and future clients. You can keep your name on the program, while we do the work behind the scenes. All management and administrative tasks can be subcontracted to the Alliance.

The Newport Alliance would like to talk with you about ways to make your program more efficient and profitable. If you are interested or would like further information, please contact the Newport Alliance by phone at 1-800-223-2133, ext. 1362, or online.
