After working at Newport for 33 years, it has become a part of my life.
Newport Hospital is a part of our community, it is "our"
hospital. The appearance has changed over the years—a new faade, some
new faces—but the spirit of unity and sense of commitment to our patients
has never wavered.
We dedicate ourselves to the delivery of quality patient care. Our
patients are not nameless or faceless; they are our families, our
neighbors, our teachers and clergy, and our friends. This is what gives us
our community spirit and therefore, the uniqueness and special feeling
that you can find only in a community hospital.
To say that we are a community hospital should in no way imply that we
are stagnant or behind the times. Our new operating room suites, emergency
department and diagnostic imaging department are state of the art. Our
Hospitalist Program provides 24-hour, on-site service to our patients.
There is a collegial spirit in our nursing department. In our nurse
internship program, seasoned nurses are paired with novice nurses to
facilitate their transition from student to professional nurse. Our
computerized clinical documentation system brings us well into the 21st
century. Add our beautiful city-by-the-sea and you have a winning ticket!
