I have been very privileged to have had the opportunity to work in several areas of hospitals in different states. Never have I felt more at home than here at Newport Hospital, where nurses and administrators know each other. As a teenage volunteer at this hospital, I loved coming to help and found the nurses here to be kind and encouraging to me. I remember this each time I am asked to help orient new nursing staff.
In 25 years at Newport Hospital I have seen many changes, none better than the electronic documentation because we are all working together for improved patient safety. Adopting new technology means that we are always moving forward.
Newport Hospital has always encouraged continuing education, and I personally was very proud to become certified in psychiatric nursing, along with other nurses on my unit, for which our nurse manager took us out to a celebration dinner.
