On average our patients' stay at Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center is 14 days. This varies greatly by diagnosis and rehabilitation needs. By diagnosis the average is 15 days for stroke patients, 12 days for orthopedic conditions, 16 days for brain injury, and 17 days for neurologic conditions.
At discharge, 68% of our patients were discharged back home. The remaining 32% of our patients who did not go home were discharged primarily to another nursing facility for continued rehab or back to the hospital for further medical treatment.
