Rhode Island Hospitals Hallett Center Receives National RecognitionJune 5, 2006 The Hallett Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Rhode Island
Hospital has received an American Diabetes Association three-year
certificate of recognition for its diabetes self-management education
program. The Hallett Center recognition extends to education programs
at six sites throughout the area. Robert Smith, MD, director of the Hallett Center, says, We are very proud of the Hallett Centers role in bringing necessary education to members of our community who are living with diabetes. We know that patient education programs really workthey make it easier for people to live with diabetes and lower the risk of developing serious diabetes complications. Smith adds, The American Diabetes Associations recognition of our program is confirmation of the programs quality and its benefit to Rhode Islanders with diabetes. The sites in the program include the Hallett Center and The Miriam Hospital, plus four other sites at the East Providence Senior Center, Visiting Nurse Services of Bristol and Newport County, the Oxnard Pharmacy in Warwick, and Healthway Rhode Island in Warwick. |
