Many people have chronic health conditions–such as diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s disease, and others–and they can improve their health and wellbeing by learning to manage their condition. Using an evidence-based program developed by Stanford University, participants will learn to deal with fatigue and pain, make informed exercise and medication decisions, and communicate with family, friends and health professionals about the condition and symptoms.
Newport Hospital is hosting a six-week course in self-management of chronic conditions, co-sponsored by the RI Department of Health. Classes will be held on six consecutive Wednesdays, beginning May 28, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Newport Hospital’s MacLaurin Building.
The class is free but is limited to 15 participants, so please call 845-1592 to register.
