The public is invited to attend a free community education program on heart attack topics. The first 45 minutes of the event will include free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, peripheral artery disease, body fat analysis and stroke risk assessment. The second half of the event will feature presentations from Rhode Island Hospital physicians, including:
“I am having a heart attack. What should I do now?” by George McKendall, M.D., director of Cardiac Care Unit
“I am recovering from a heart attack. What can I do now?” by Michael Gilson, M.D., cardiologist
“Heart attack and women: an equal opportunity?” by Marilyn Weigner, M.D., cardiologist
The program will also include a demonstration of exercise to get blood flowing to a healthier heart, heart-healthy refreshments and prize drawings.
