Tufts Health Plan to sponsor Speaking of Kids series

(posted December 11, 2008)

Bradley Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital have announced that Tufts Health Plan will be the presenting sponsor of the 2009 Speaking of Kids series.

For 16 years, Speaking of Kids has connected parents, caregivers and teachers with top child development and behavior professionals on a variety of topics related to raising happy, healthy children. Eight workshops are held each year throughout the spring and fall.

“We’re excited to partner with Tufts Health Plan on Speaking of Kids,” said Daniel J. Wall, president and CEO of Bradley Hospital. “Sharing our knowledge and expertise with the community is important to us and Speaking of Kids provides a golden opportunity to address many of the questions and concerns that parents and caregivers often have. We look forward to working with our friends at Tufts Health Plan on a successful Speaking of Kids series.”

The dates and topics for the 2009 Speaking of Kids series are still being planned. The series will resume in March. Previous topics have included positive approaches to discipline, managing anger and aggression in children and teens, and teaching kids how to problem-solve.

James Roosevelt, Jr., president and CEO of Tufts Health Plan, echoed Daniel Wall’s words. He said, “Improving the health of the community through partnering with respected organizations such as Bradley Hospital and its Speaking of Kids program offers a unique opportunity to provide useful communication tools to caregivers and parents. Tufts Health Plan is committed to helping people live healthier lives, and programs such as this one can help entire families. We are pleased to join with Bradley Hospital in providing this free service.”

Each Speaking of Kids workshop is about two hours long, including time for audience questions. All sessions are free and open to the public. Professional continuing education credits also are available. For more information about Speaking of Kids, please visit www.bradleyhospital.org .
