Jr. Pee-Wee Football Team Donates More Than 700 Items for Young Patients

(posted December 8, 2009)

Members of the Tri-Town Titans Junior Pee-Wee football team recently visited Hasbro Children’s Hospital to drop off several hundred gifts they had collected for young patients.

Players and team volunteers from the Tri-Town Titans gathered at Hasbro Children’s Hospital to present several hundred gift items they collected for patients. The team, which includes boys between the ages of 7 and 8 from Scituate, Foster and Glocester, collected more than 700 items from the hospital’s wish list, such as coloring books, play-doh and arts and crafts kits. They also donated 15 stuffed animals to be given to infants and six gift bags filled with craft items to be used for special occasions, such as a patient’s birthday.

The players sent letters to their family members and friends containing a message about how lucky they feel to be able to play football, and asked for donations to benefit children at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The players then collected all the items from their supporters and brought them to the hospital to share with young patients. Many of the team members’ siblings also joined in and helped collect the items.

The Tri-Town Titans is a non-profit youth organization dedicated to providing a healthy and safe environment for young people ages 5 through 14 to learn football, cheerleading, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
