Electron Microscopy

The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) laboratory offers a wide range of technologies. Our broad expertise enables us to devise innovative procedures for the study of unusual samples.

TEM services include:

  • Negative staining
  • Standard fixation, embedding and sectioning protocols
  • Pre and post-embedding cytochemical and immunological localization techniques using peroxidase and colloidal gold markers
  • Acrylic resin embedding

The transmission electron microscope laboratory uses a Morgagni 268, manufactured by FEI. This scope is a fully digitized, high resolution, high performance, 100 KV instrument equipped with a 6 megapixel digital camera system in addition to a conventional 50 frame film camera.
