Living with allergies: Seasonal Allergies Acting Up?

There are few things more difficult than avoiding wind-borne allergens, such as pollen and mold. Here are some tips that may help you weather seasonal allergies:

  • Stay indoors when the pollen count or humidity is high. The morning is prime pollen time.
  • Keep windows shut when the pollen count is high, including those in your house and car. Use air conditioning if possible.
  • Don't hang laundry outside.
  • Avoid mowing the grass or raking leaves. If you must do these, wear a mask to filter pollen and molds from the air.
  • Vacation where pollen isn't prevalent. A good choice is the beach.
  • Consult your physician for other treatment alternatives, such as medications that can help minimize symptoms.
