The Department of Psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital makes a significant investment in both research and training. There are 20 full-time faculty of the department of psychiatry, as well as 30 clinical faculty at Rhode Island Hospital, as well as 18 full-time and three part-time academic faculty and six clinical faculty at The Miriam Hospital, who make major contributions to Brown University in undergraduate and graduate education.

The department of psychiatry at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital provides a significant amount of education and training support. Funded training programs include 34 positions in psychiatry residency training. These programs are fully integrated with the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and are divided as follows:
In addition, there are 7 psychology residents and 17 psychology postdoctoral fellows.
Bradley Hospital is one of seven consortium hospitals that provide clinical training for students of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Along with Hasbro Children's Hospital, Bradley Hospital is the major training center for Alpert Medical School's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program, the Triple Board Residency program and the Psychology Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship program.
All psychiatrists and psychologists at Bradley Hospital hold faculty appointments at Brown University, and are members of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Alpert Medical School's Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior.
