MRI Scan Option: After School and No Sedation
The MRI afterschool program (MRI-ASP) at Hasbro Children's Hospital provides patients the opportunity to try their MRI scan without the use of sedation, when applicable. Families referred to this program will receive a screening call to explain the program. An email is sent to provide them with MRI preparation, including MRI videos and information on what to expect the day of the MRI appointment. Families arrive an hour prior to their test where they will meet with the child life specialist for further preparation and are screened by the MRI technologist.
When participating in our MRI-ASP, we find that preparing your child for what to expect may help in creating a more positive experience. Please be aware that some of the information provided may not look the same at Hasbro Children’s Hospital/Pediatric Imaging and Sedation Center, they are meant to give you and your child an idea of what to expect.
