Richard Limbird, MD, is a specialist in adult reconstructive surgery at Rhode Island Hospital. He operates primarily on degenerative joint problems, often replacing the joints of patients who have severe pain or functional limitations. The majority of the joint replacements performed by Limbird are done with elderly patients suffering from hip, knee, foot or ankle problems. Many of these patients have arthritis caused by degeneration, trauma or inflammation. He also performs joint realignments, which are less severe than replacements and are designed to maintain a normal joint for a longer period of time.
Limbird, certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Rhode Island Orthopaedic Society.
