The Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Program
The heart failure and cardiac transplant program at Rhode Island Hospital is the only one of its kind in the state. We provide an integrated approach to patient care that involves our physicians, nurses and specialists along with your physician and family. We offer the only comprehensive heart transplant
service in Rhode Island to provide you with the most advanced technology available for your
heart. We dedicate ourselves to meeting all the needs of our patients and their families, both medically and emotionally.
Rhode Island Hospital physicians work with the Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston to provide a comprehensive array of medical services. This unique collabration allows you to receive your pre- and post- operative care at our hospital and your transplant surgery at Tufts-New England Medical Center. It really is the best of both worlds: world-class heart treatment and care close to home. Tufts-New England Medical Center has been at the forefront of heart failure management for more than twenty years, initiating its program in heart transplants in 1985. They also continue to be a leading center for the study of dysfunction of the left ventricle of the heart and have been instrumental in developing new treatments for heart failure.
We also offer all conventional procedures for heart failure from evaluation
and diagnosis to treatment, surgery and follow-up care. We are able to recommend the most appropriate procedure for each patient based on complete and thorough testing of the functional impairment of the heart.
