Volunteering at Rhode Island Hospital
Teen Volunteers
High school students interested in volunteering at Rhode Island Hospital must first attend a one-hour information session. Students must be at least 14 years old to volunteer at Rhode Island Hospital. To volunteer at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, students must be 17 or 18 and a senior in high school. Students under 18 must submit a signed permission slip.
Teen volunteers work in the following areas:
- Greeters
- Dietary services
- Nurse aids
- Office support
- Recovery room
- Stock and supplies
- Central transport
Students are asked to commit a total of two to four hours per week for a total of 100 hours. Certificates or letters of completion will be given after the 100 hours are completed.
To volunteer during the months of January to June, volunteers must first attend one of the information sessions listed below:
- January 11, 2008, 4-5 p.m., Collis conference room
- February 7, 2008, 4-5 p.m. Collis conference room
Volunteers will be asked to complete the following after their information sessions:
- Interview with the volunteer coordinator or manager
- Provide an updated immunization record
- Undergo two tuberculosis tests
- Complete an orientation
- Commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per week
- Adhere to uniform and dress code policies
