Choice Award
Rhode Island Hospital has once again received the Consumer Choice
Award from the National Research Corporation.
Rhode Island Hospital received $50 million
in Funding from National Institutes of Health
Rhode Island Hospital received $50 million in Funding from the National
Institutes of Health. Bioresearch funding included: A five-year
$8.4 million grant from the Center for Biomedical Research Excellence
(COBRE) to establish laboratory based cancer research, a five-year
$7.5 million grant from the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) a five-year
$3.3 million grant focusing on asthma trends among Latino children,
and an $8.4 million grant to establish a cancer research center.
Medical
Intensive Care Unit Top in Country
Rhode Island Hospital's medical intensive care unit was named one
of the top in the country by the National Coalition on Health Care
and the Institute of Healthcare Improvement.
CIO 100 Award
This award is given to companies that demonstrate impressive progress toward enterprise integration, bringing information from various sources into a single view. Among the other winners of this year's award are: CISCO, Dell, Dow Chemical, GE, IBM, MetLife, Royal Bank of Canada, Italy's Perilli, S.p.A., and Wal-Mart. Lifespan is the only health care system to be recognized in 2002.

Top Physicians
Ten Rhode Island Hospital physicians were named among the top physicians in the country, according to a national survey by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.
Consumer Choice Award
Rhode Island Hospital is once again the only hospital in Rhode Island to receive the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation.

Rhode Island Hospital was named Best in Cardiac Services by Healthgrades.com.

Rhode Island Hospital received the Heart Care Service Award from the National Research Corporation.

Rhode Island Hospital is the only hospital in Rhode Island to receive the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation.
1999
For the third year in a row, RIH was selected as a top hospital by consumers taking the nationwide NRC consumer preference survey.
RIH once again ranked among the nation's top hospitals, according to the 10th annual guide published by U. S. News & World Report for respiratory disorders.
Received the Consumers Choice award for Cardiac Heart Care Service.
1998
The National Research Corporation (NRC) honored the hospital as a Quality Leader, the only hospital in Rhode Island to receive the award.
1997
Literacy Award from the RI State Council for the Read to Me Program
Providence Safe Communities Partnership grant awarded 1997 - Citation Award for design by the American Institute of Architect's Academy of Architecture for Health
RIH earned the major distinction of the HCIA Inc.'s annual "100 Top Hospitals - Benchmarks for Success" list, ranking for the first time as a national benchmark.
