National Cardiac Center Designation
Rhode Island Hospital has been designated a Blue Cross & Blue Shield national cardiac center based upon selected quality criteria and nationally established measures for process, structure and outcomes.

“Excellence in Mentoring” Award
Rhode Island Hospital received an “Excellence in Mentoring” award from Governor Donald Carcieri at a State House ceremony. The MET School nominated Rhode Island Hospital for the award in recognition of our mentors who volunteer to provide meaningful internship opportunities for MET Center students through their “Learning Through Internships” program for the past three years.

Bridge Building Construction Receives Recognition
The bridge building has received an Honor Award in New Construction from the RI Associated General Contractors Association in recognition of the highly technical aspects of the project, the team’s use of innovative construction methodology and demonstrated sensitivity to the community. The award was presented jointly to Rhode Island Hospital and Walsh Brothers, Inc. This is the second award for the new building.

Rhode Island Hospital among Solucient 100 Top Hospitals
Rhode Island Hospital was selected for the third year in a row for the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals Performance Improvement Leaders. This award recognizes Rhode Island Hospital as an organization that has instilled a true culture of performance improvement across the organization over five consecutive years.

“Excellence in Mentoring” Award
Rhode Island Hospital received an “Excellence in Mentoring” award from Governor Donald Carcieri. Celebration for Hospital Quality Awards
At the recent Celebration for Hospital Quality, our quality management department received two awards: the Collaborative Sharing Award from MassPRO and the Participation Award from Quality Partners of Rhode Island. The Collaborative Sharing Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the improvement of health care quality in surgical infection prevention. The Participation Award honors a demonstrated commitment to improvements in acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care improvement

Nurses Improving Care to Health System Elders Designation
Rhode Island Hospital has been designated an official Nurses Improving Care to Health System Elders (NICHE) site, acknowledging commitment to geriatric nursing care by the New York University College of Nursing and the Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing. Rhode Island Hospital joins a network of distinguished hospitals that demonstrate dedication to improving the quality of care for older adults.

Heroes of Infection Prevention Award
The Infection Control Team at Rhode Island Hospital has been announced as a winner of the national “2007 Heroes of Infection Prevention” award from the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Top Doctors Recognized
Once again, physicians from Rhode Island Hospital have been named among “America’s Top Doctors” in the 6th edition of the Castle-Connolly recognition. Twenty-six Rhode Island Hospital physicians were recognized for their passion for excellence.

Top 100 Hospitals for Cardiovascular Care Designation
Rhode Island Hospital was named among the nation's 100 top hospital for cardiovascular care by Solucient. The eighth "100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success Study" identifies hospitals that are setting benchmark levels of performance for cardiovascular services throughout the nation. The top 100 hospitals are identified from among more than 6,000 hospitals in the country. Rhode Island Hospital was among the top 30 teaching hospitals in the country.

Consumer Choice Award
Rhode Island Hospital is the only hospital in Rhode Island to receive the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation. This is the eleventh year in a row Rhode Island Hospital has received this award.
