Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology Services

Catheterization Laboratory

Our new catheterization lab is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to significantly reduce the amount of time between when you arrive in the Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center and we begin the angioplasty or stenting procedures. Time is muscle, and this time savings makes an enormous difference in the quality of care and outcomes for our patients.

The cardiac catheterization lab diagnoses and treats adults and children with disorders of the heart and blood vessels. Annually, we perform nearly 4,000 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. With this amount of experience, we are uniquely able to diagnose and treat a variety of disorders of the heart.

Our four all-digital catheterization labs use high-resolution video imaging systems. All reports and images are stored electronically to maximize reliability and access and minimize cost. Our lab also emphasizes communication. Within minutes of each procedure, detailed patient information is faxed to referring physicians. This feature is unique to Rhode Island Hospital.
