Jack Wands, MD is the Jeffrey and Kimberly Greenberg-Artemis, Martha Joukowsky professor in gastroenterology and professor of medical science at Brown University. He is also the director of the division of gastroenterology and director of the Liver Research Center at Brown University.
Wands is internationally recognized for his research on the role of hepatitis B and C viruses in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the development of antiviral therapies for liver cancer. He is the recipient of numerous awards for scientific achievement, holds 81 USA patents and is the author of more than 375 articles, chapters and books. Intrinsic to his research is the mission of educating the next generation of scientists and engaging them in translational research. He has trained more than 120 physician scientists.
