Hallett Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology
About Us
The Hallett Center is the first comprehensive, academic diabetes
and endocrinology center in Rhode Island. It is the home to a team
of physicians, nurses and researchers (currently more than 40 professionals
and growing). The Hallett Center is structured to integrate programs
on diabetes and the full spectrum of endocrine disorders.
The center includes an outpatient facility that provides patients
and referring physicians with access to endocrinologists and multiple
other subspecialists, a patient education program and inpatient
services, all of which are coordinated with the educational, clinical
and basic research activities of the division of endocrinology.
Our Goals
The goals of the division of endocrinology and the Hallett Center
for Diabetes and Endocrinology are:
- To provide the best possible care for all patients with diabetes
and other endocrine diseases.
- To take a leading role in introducing new approaches to disease
prevention and management.
- To involve patients in their effective disease management through
educational programs.
- To pursue clinical and basic research on diabetes and other
endocrine diseases that will increase our understanding of causal
mechanisms and define new approaches to treatment.
- To provide an effective educational environment and mentors
for medical students, graduate students, medical residents, fellows
and postgraduate trainees in the field of endocrinology, diabetes
and metabolism.
