School of Diagnostic Imaging
Computed Tomography Program
The computed tomography program is a
6-month, hospital-based program. All clinical practices take place at Rhode Island
Hospital.
Students work in the hospital setting
with physicians, radiology professionals and
other members of the health care team. The
department is well equipped with cutting-edge
CT technology, and students acquire hands-on
training with patients using the multiple CT
systems available to them.
The program consists of:
- Competency-based clinical instruction, including
applications and direct patient contact.
- Classroom lectures that cover physical principles
of CT, including the latest advances; cross sectional
anatomy and pathology as it relates to
CT; patient care and safety; and imaging procedures
and protocols.
Students who successfully complete the program
will have met the clinical requirements needed to
be eligible to take the CT Registry exam provided
by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
(ARRT), and will be eligible for immediate
placement as competent CT technologists.
