Magnetic Resonance Imaging Program
Application Procedures
Applications get processed once the following items have been submitted:
- Official copies of transcripts from all high schools, colleges and/or diagnostic school’s attended
- Copy of GED if applicable
- Applicant Essay: Explaining your interest in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Three references: one personal and two professional
Within one month of receiving your application, the school will contact you by mail confirming receipt of your application.

Additional Information to Consider:
- Applications are accepted year round.
- The application deadline for the program is April 1 for classes beginning in September.
- Potential candidates selected for interviews are required to observe the clinical phase of the program. There are NO exceptions.
The Diagnostic Imaging School administrative assistant schedules the clinical observation in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Department at Rhode Island Hospital. Observation lasts approximately four to eight hours. The observation must be scheduled and attended prior to the set interview date. Dress is business casual. However, shorts, jeans, short skirts, sleeveless shirts, sandals and sneakers are unacceptable.
Acceptance
Potential students and candidates will receive notification letters of conditional acceptance or denial.
Acceptance is conditional pending receipt of the following documentation:
- Medical clearance from your personal physician
- Proof of medical insurance
- Criminal background check
- A registration fee of $1,000 is due by a designated date after notification of acceptance
**In the case that a radiologic technology student has not received a passing score from the Radiologic Technologist Exam with the ARRT before the scheduled start date, he or she will be dismissed from the MRI program.
