Radiologic Technology Program
The Day Program
The Rhode Island Hospital School of Diagnostic Imaging Radiologic Technology Program offers a 24-month, full time day program offering clinical and classroom-based education in the art and science of diagnostic imaging.
In the first year, the student receives classroom instruction three days per week and is in clinic two days per week. In the second year, the student receives classroom instruction twice per week and is in clinic three days per week.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student is awarded a certificate and is eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians (ARRT) certification board examination. Also, upon certification by the ARRT, the graduate may be awarded credit toward a BGS degree at the University of Rhode Island, School of Continuing Education. Formal application to URI must be submitted.
Day Program Schedule
The day program hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first ten weeks of school have a varying schedule. Once the introductory courses and observation period has been completed, the schedule for the day students is as follows:
- September to April of the first year:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday classroom instruction: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday clinical education:
8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Remainder of Program (May to May of following year):
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday clinical education: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Tuesday and Thursday classroom instruction
8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
