Radiologic Technology Program

The Evening Program

The Rhode Island Hospital School of Diagnostic Imaging of Radiologic Technology Program offers a 30-month, part-time evening program offering clinical and classroom education in the art and science of diagnostic imaging.

During the first 24 months of the program, the student receives classroom instruction two evenings per week and is in clinic two evenings per week.

During the student's last semester they will switch to a "full-time day" education. Classes and clinical education will be held five days per week. Clinical education will take place at Rhode Island Hospital and Rhode Island Medical Imaging.

Upon successful completion of the program, the student is awarded a certificate and is eligible to take the American Registry of Diagnostic Imaging (ARRT) certification board examination. Also, upon certification by the ARRT, the graduate may be awarded credit toward a BGS. degree at the University of Rhode Island, School of Continuing Education. Formal application to URI must be submitted.

Evening Program Schedule

  • First 24 months:
    • Two evenings a week (Monday-Thursday) classroom instruction: 5:30 - 10:30 p.m. (may be earlier depending upon courseload per semester)
    • clinical education: 
      5:30 p.m. - 12 a.m. (may be earlier depending upon scheduled area)
  • Final semester:
    • The final semester is a full-time day semester: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
