Newspapers in Education

newspaper insert. |
Newspapers in Education is a project held in partnership with the
Providence Journal to develop and distribute 16-page safety
tabloids to all schools within Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
Previous inserts have focused on the issues of fire safety, summer
safety and gun safety. Most recently, students in grades five through
eight helped to create "Maria in the City," an insert
dedicated to subtance abuse prevention.
In 2006, the Injury Prevention Center was awarded an International
Safety Media Award at the World Conference on Injury Prevention
and Safety for its 2005 gun safety newspaper insert.
