The Safe Playground
and Sportsfields Project
The Safe Playground and Sportsfields Project is an initiative to
provide safe play environments through community build projects.
Injury Free sites across the country have discovered that playground
projects that involve a coalition of community members serve to
build up distressed communities and reestablish community spirit
while providing safe places for city children to play.
Thus far, the Injury Prevention Center conducted two comminuty
playground renovations in Providence. Both projects, funded by the
Allstate Foundation, transformed the neighborhood playgrounds into
state-of-the-art play areas that are fun, challenging and safe.
