More about Us
Serious emotional disorders affect 1 out of 10 young people.
We offer a vision of hope.
As major teaching hospitals for Brown Medical School, Bradley Hospital
and Hasbro Children’s Hospital employ faculty who are active in clinical
and basic research. To centralize our efforts, promote collaboration among
research groups and increase our ability to move the field forward, all the
child mental health research within Lifespan came together to form the
Bradley Hasbro Children’s Research Center (BHCRC).
Today’s children are sicker, younger.
And no one knows for certain why.
The BHCRC encompasses a wide range of research programs that share a
commitment to studying the impact of psychological factors on the
growth and development of children and their families. Within the
BHCRC,investigators direct over 50 externally funded projects.Grant support
is extensive:awards are over $11 million each year and the total grant
awards for all years of currently active projects are over $45 million.
If the mental health crisis in young people were an
infectious disease, it would be an epidemic.
We’re working on it.
BHCRC investigators are continually seeking answers to the important
questions in the realm of child development and child mental health.
New projects are being generated, new therapies are being tested and “conventional wisdom” is being challenged in an effort to advance the
frontier of knowledge and improve our capacity to help children grow
up well adjusted and contribute to society.
