Lifespan Community Health Services
More About What We Do
Our Mission
The mission of Lifespan Community Health Services is to develop,
implement and evaluate initiatives to improve the health status of the
people in Rhode Island and southern New England. We strive to do this
through coordination of health education and prevention programs and
services within Lifespan and its partners and with other community health
providers.
Bringing necessary health programs into our neighborhoods
Meaningful improvement of community health status occurs in
neighborhoods, as well as in hospitals, through a variety of outreach
efforts to protect and promote the health of all members of our
communities. It is these efforts, with particular emphasis on the needs of
low-income communities and families, that are developed and administered
by Lifespan Community Health Services.
In addition to activities directly provided through Lifespan Community
Health Services, the system and its partners collaborate with other
community groups on numerous programs and partnerships designed to keep
people healthy and out of the hospital. Many of these programs are broad
in scope, benefiting people from all walks of life with a wide range of
health information and service needs. Others are designed specifically to
meet the needs of certain populations. Some of these special populations
include children and at-risk teens, people with HIV and AIDS, the elderly,
people with substance abuse problems, and people coping with chronic
illness or end-of-life issues.
Examples of some community programs and events sponsored or supported
by Lifespan Community Health Services include:
- "Buckle Up"
Seat Belt program
- Statewide Trigger Lock distribution
- Automatic
External Defibrillator (AED) distribution
- "Paths to Health"
