Michael Atalay, MD, PhD
All cardiac MRI examinations are conducted under the supervision of Michael Atalay, MD, PhD.
Atalay has more than 13 years of experience in the field of cardiovascular MRI. After obtaining his undergraduate degree in physics from Princeton University, Atalay simultaneously earned his MD and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore.
His PhD focused on developing techniques in cardiac MRI, and his PhD advisor was Elias Zerhouni, MD, a pioneer in the field of cardiac MRI and current director of the U. S. National Institutes of Health.
Atalay subsequently completed a medical internship and a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard hospitals before returning to Johns Hopkins for residency and fellowship in radiology. He joined the Lifespan network in July 2003.
