Molecular Pathology
The division of molecular pathology offers a wide array of diagnostic
molecular testing procedures for viral infectious diseases, oncology
testing for lymphomas and leukemias, and genetic testing for mutations
associated with coagulation disorders. The division provides consultation
services with rapid turnaround times, faxing of results and direct
telephone consultations.
The division offers:
- Testing for herpes simplex, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr
virus, varicella zoster, JC virus and enterovirus by PCR in
paraffin embedded or fresh frozen samples.
- Oncology testing for BCL-1, BCL-2, BCR-ABL, immunoglobulin
heavy chain, T and T rearrangements by PCR in paraffin embedded
or fresh frozen samples.
- Mutational analysis for factor V Leiden, prothrombin, methylene-tetrahydrofolate
reductase (MTHFR) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1).
