    The members of our medical team offer state-of-the-art clinical adolescent medicine as well as medical education, research, and community service. All have received special training in adolescent medicine. Our staff of caregivers includes physicians, nurses and nutritionists. In addition to caring for patients, medical staff members actively participate in education and research on a national level.

     Catherine Gordon, MD, MSc is director of the division of adolescent medicine at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and a professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is board certified in adolescent medicine and pediatric endocrinology, and her clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent bone health, reproductive endocrinology (including menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome and delayed puberty), and eating disorders. Her research focuses on the effect of malnutrition on bone loss, including early osteoporosis seen in adolescents with anorexia nervosa, cystic fibrosis and inflammatory bowel disease. Gordon has served on national panels on the topics of pediatric densitometry, vitamin D guidelines for youth and adults, and hypothalamic amenorrhea. She has authored many publications in the areas of bone health, menstrual disorders, vitamin D deficiency, and adolescent contraception.
    Brown_Joanna  

     Joanna Brown, MD, MPH is an adolescent health practitioner interested in primary care and medical homes for adolescents. Her clinical and research interests also include care for youth with complex social issues and for sexual minority youth, and teen pregnancy and parenting. She is medical director at the Rhode Island Training School, the state juvenile justice facility. Brown also provides care in the Adolescent Healthcare Center's Coro and East Providence sites. She is an assistant professor of family medicine (clinical) at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

    Donaldson_Abigail    Abigail Donaldson, MD is an adolescent medicine provider with expertise in general adolescent primary care, eating disorders, sexual and reproductive health, and substance abuse treatment. She provides both subspecialty care in eating disorders and general adolescent medicine, including well adolescent examinations, contraception counseling and management, sexually transmitted infection prevention and treatment, and substance abuse management. She is also an assistant a professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
    Donnelly_Doreen   Doreen Donnelly, NP provides inpatient and outpatient eating disorder management to adolescents, and is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has worked at the Whitmarsh Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic in Providence, Rhode Island and Salve Regina University Health Services in Newport, Rhode Island, in addition to several specialty clinics and community health centers.
    Flanagan_Patricia    Patricia Flanagan, MD is chief of clinical affairs and director of the Teens With Tots Program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Flanagan is also the current president of the Rhode Island chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and helped create the Rhode Island Medical Legal Partnership, a program that makes legal services available to low-income families. Flanagan has published numerous articles and led community educational efforts on issues related to teenage parenting and adolescent medicine.
    Forcier_Michelle    Michelle Forcier, MD has been providing care to adolescents for more than 15 years. She is an associate profesor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her interests and expertise are in sexual and reproductive health. Forcier provides primary care and consultation services in advanced contraception, including IUD and Implanon insertions; sexualy transmitted disease care; menstrual issues; pregnancy options counseling; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender health care (primary care and hormones); and general sexual health education and empowerment.
