Allergy or Cold?

Sometimes it may be difficult to tell them apart. Both can cause a stuffy, runny nose, sinus headache, sneezing and coughing. What's the difference?

Allergy symptoms usually:

Last longer than two weeks
Occur at about the same time each year
Get better or worse depending on the immediate environment or circumstances
Include itchy, sticky, red eyes
Include an itchy nose and dry throat

A good rule of thumb is to tell your doctor about symptoms that last longer than two weeks. He or she can recommend an allergy specialist if necessary.
