Stroke: When Minutes Count
The Effects of Stroke
The effects of a stroke depend on where it occurs in the brain and how
much of the brain is damaged. Each side of the brain controls the opposite
side of the body. Therefore, a stroke on the right side of the brain
typically causes complications on the left side of the body. Likewise, a
stroke on the left side of the brain affects the right side of the body.
While not every stroke survivor suffers the same complications, there
are problems that commonly result from stroke.
