Understanding Your Stroke:
A Guide for Patients and Families
Patient Support Resources
- Nursing Staff
Our staff believes that family members should be able to perform
hands-on care whenever possible. Because most of our patients return
home, it is important that your family members learn to help care for
you while you are hospitalized. Our nurses specialize in neuroscience/ neurosurgical
nursing and have many years of experience to ensure that you have the
best possible care. Our staff will strive to help you maintain your
independence, your dignity and your sense of well being. If you or your
family members have questions, please do not hesitate to ask your nurse.
Should you need further assistance you can ask for the charge nurse.
- Social Workers
The nursing staff believes that the patient, family and other members
of the patient's support system should be included in the plan of care.
If at any time you need to speak with a social worker, please mention it
to your nurse. Arrangements will be made as soon as possible.
- Support Groups
Several support groups are available in the Rhode Island and
Massachusetts area. We encourage patients to connect with individuals
who have gone through or are currently going through a similar
experience. To find a local group that is convenient for you check
our online listing or contact the Lifespan Health Connection at
401-444-4800.
