Childhood Asthma
The Childhood Asthma Research
Program studies factors that
account for variations in asthma
management and morbidity in children
and adolescents.
Current projects
are designed to:
- Understand
the reasons for pediatric asthma
health disparities between Latino
and Anglo children
- Examine the
influence of stress on immune
function in adolescents with asthma
- Improve asthma medication
use among African American and
Latino children
- Identify protective
processes that may contribute
to asthma-related resilience
in urban children
Findings from
these projects will increase our
understanding of key processes
implicated in asthma health disparities,
further knowledge about
how stress influences asthma
symptoms, and improve asthma
health outcomes for diverse
groups of children.
