Be Calm and Move On
The Centers for Behavioral and Preventative Medicine at the Miriam Hospital are sponsoring the research study Be Calm and Move On. The study is a 12-week home-based walking and relaxation program available to breast cancer survivors. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation funds the study.
Participants receive telephone coaching in a walking-focused exercise program as well as muscle relaxation instruction. Participants fill out surveys before and after the program to determine if the program improves the quality of life of breast cancer survivors.
Eligibility Requirements:
You may be eligible to participate in thie study if you are:
- A female who is at least 21 years of age
- Diagnosed with stage 0, I or II breast cancer
- Completed treatment (surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy) or will complete treatment this year
- Not regularly physically active
- Not currently practicing a relaxation strategy like yoga or meditation
