  • Admission Requirements

  • Radiologic TechnologyInitial entrance into the School of Diagnostic Imaging – Radiologic Technology clinical education program requires admission to Rhode Island College as a medical imaging intended major.

    Admission occurs after students satisfy the following:

    • Completion of School of Medical Imaging application

    • Completion of the cognate courses (contact Rhode IslandCollege for course list) with a minimum grade of C ineach course

    • Completion of the required general education courses

    • Completion of the college mathematics and writing requirements

    • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.70

    • Completion of RADT 201 – Orientation to Medical Imaging.Course must be completed prior to application deadline with a minimum grade of C.

    • Completion of the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

    • Completion of job shadow; observation of the clinic education portion of the program

    The admissions committee endeavors to select candidates with the most promise of becoming outstanding radiologic technologists. The committee considers information that depicts an applicant's total qualifications for the radiologic technology program and practice. Selection of students is based on the following criteria: prerequisite courses, TEAS scores, candidate essay, letters of reference, job shadow, GPA and personal interview.

    Each applicant selected to attend the clinical education program must:

    • Have completed the minimum requirements of 58.5 credits and a C or better on all cognate courses

    • Meet health requirements necessary to function as a radiographer

    • Submit to, and successfully complete, a criminal background check
