This educational activity for training in moderate/procedural sedation is brought to you by CME educators at Rhode Island and The Miriam Hospitals.

Activity Overview

This "Moderate/Procedural Sedation" is provided for Lifespan physicians and surgeons.

The Miriam Hospital is accredited by the Rhode Island Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. The Miriam Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation of the activity.

Target Audience

Physicians and Surgeons affliliated with Lifespan.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe appropriate techniques in administering sedation to patients,
  • Recognize the different types of airways to manage access, and
  • acquire relevant training for competency in the sedation privilege.

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. The Miriam Hospital is accredited by the Rhode Island Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

The Miriam Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their paticipation in the acitvity.

Credentialing Requirements

Upon completion of this training module and test, you will be notified of your results. A satisfactory test score of 80% or higher will meet the requirements for physicians to perform Moderate/Procedural Sedation.

Method of Participation

There are no fees for participating and receiving credit for this activity. In order to receive credit for this program, participants must review the training module in its entirety, review the appropriate hospital(s) Sedation policy, complete the post test with a score of 80% or higher and complete the evaluation/credit request survey.
