Here are some tips to keeping the air clean in your home:
- Make sure your carbon monoxide detector is up-to-date and working.
- Have your fuel-burning appliances inspected at least once a
year.
- Avoid using charcoal grills inside your home or an unventilated
garage.
- Make sure the garage door is up before starting your car.
- Make sure all carbon monoxide producing appliances are properly
ventilated.
Know the Signs and Symptoms
Seek medical attention immediately if you or a family member experience
the following symptoms:
- headache
- irritability
- confusion
- impaired judgment
- bizarre behavior
- shortness of breath
- rapid breathing
- chest pain
- nausea and vomiting
- hyperactivity
Call 911 if you or a family member experiences the following the
symptoms:
- fainting
- unconsciousness
- difficulty breathing
- abnormal heart beat
- rapid heart beat
- low blood pressure
- convulsions
- shock
