Emergency Services:
What to expect during your visit

How long will I have to wait?

Please understand that we make every attempt to make your wait as short as possible. A triage nurse will determine the seriousness of your condition by asking you about your symptoms and related medical problems. He or she may take your blood pressure, temperature and pulse to determine the level of care you need:

  • Emergent level - if you have a life-threatening illness or injury

  • Urgent level - if you are in stable condition, but need treatment as soon as possible

  • Non-urgent level - if you a have minor problem or chronic complaint

After triage, you will be registered. You will be asked for your name, address and telephone number, employer and insurance policy number. This information is vital for your medical record and will facilitate your insurance billing.

If you would like us to contact your primary care physician, please let the registration nurse know. We will contact your personal physician only at your request or if the emergency physician needs to discuss your case.
