Restrictive Covenants

Purpose: To establish a Graduate Medical Education policy for ensuring that House Officers in Rhode Island Hospital sponsored programs will not be required to sign a non-competition guarantee.

Policy: No residency or fellowship program sponsored by Rhode Island Hospital may require that a House Officer sign a non-competition guarantee.

Procendure:

Language is included in the House Officers’ Contract ensuring that House Officers in Rhode Island Hospital sponsored programs will not be required to sign a non-competition guarantee.

Non-ACGME programs may elect to submit a proposal for an exception to the policy to the GMEC for consideration and approval. The proposal must include a sound rationale for the requested exception.
