Michael Mercier is the director of the spiritual care department for Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children's Hospital while also serving as a multi-faith chaplain. Before serving as a chaplain at Rhode Island Hospital, he was a mental health professional who served as a supervisor of a group home for mentally-ill clients in East Providence, RI. He was also a pastoral intern in Blackstone, MA and served as a youth pastor in Chepachet, RI.
Mercier earned his master of divinity degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston and his bachelor of arts in biblical studies from Zion College in Haverhill, MA (formerly located in Barrington, RI). He completed four units of clinical pastoral education at The Chaplaincy Center in Providence, RI.
Mercier is an ordained American Baptist Minister.
