The following Christian prayers are provided by the chaplains at Rhode Island Hospital.
Jesus, during your life on earth you experienced pain. You prayed to your Father for help in your struggle. I am in pain now and pray to you for help. Allow me to know your presence in my life. Strengthen my faith and give me the assurance of your everlasting love for me. Amen.
Good and gracious God, you have given men and women the gifts of wisdom and knowledge to heal sickness and pain. As I prepare for surgery, I pray that you strengthen me with your grace. Bless all those entrusted with my care. Bless me with your peace and in your love and mercy grant me the grace to endure during this difficult time.
Lord Jesus Christ, I give you thanks for renewing my health; for relief from pain and worry. You never fail to bless me and bestow on me your grace and mercy. I pray that this healing may continue as I grow in strength and faith, I pray that I may return to the work you have given me to do for your. Amen.

God, grant me the serenity to accept
the things that I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
